CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION IN WW1

Taylor Herbert

Nothing has been found in the newspapers about Taylor Herbert (or Herbert Taylor)

He has an entry on the Pearce List HERE.
The Pearce List of over 17500 WW1 Conscientious Objectors can be found on the Imperial War Museum's website HERE

The Pearce List says he appealed at the Oldham Tribunal on 13 April 1917 and was granted exemption conditional on his remaining in his current occupation.

This date comes from a listing in The Friend - a weekly magazine published by the Quakers - but there is no report around this date in the Oldham newspapers.

It is possible this is the same man as Herbert Willott Taylor, a Quaker who also did work of national importance at his own trade - that of an electrician. Other facts do not tie in.
