The Oldham Ambulance Men on Naval Reserve

One of the Oldham ambulance men who volunteered for service has written from the Royal Naval Barracks at Devonport, to a friend in Oldham. In his letter he says, "We were detailed off for hospital strips yesterday (September 2nd). I am in charge of four men for a small launch which I expect will be for the most serious cases and which we must get to the hospital at Devonport at express speed. There are a few small boats and there will be large hospital ships. I expect the large ones will be used for those men who are only slightly wounded ..........."

(The letter continues with news about general conditions, pay etc.)
