Newspaper obituary:

"Second Lieutenant Frank Irvin Young, sixth son of Dr Ralph Young, Medical Officer of Royton, was killed in action on July 27th. He was in the Northumberland Fusiliers. He joined an Officer's Training Corps in February 1915, and received his commission in May 1915. He reached the firing line on May 14th this year. Previous to the war he was dental surgeon at London, having taken the degree of L.D.S.. He was 32 years of age, and leaves a widow and one child. He was a soldier of some experience, having served through the South African war. He was educated at Knutsford, Owen College, and Durham University. "
