"Private George Penrose, Manchester Pals, was killed in action on July 1st. He was 20 years of age, and was called up with his group on the 27th January. He was the youngest son of Mr Penrose, 51 Sharples Hall Street. Before his enlistment he was an apprentice plumber with Mr Dobson, Huddersfield Road. "
