Newspaper obituary:

"Official notification has been received that Private Michael Macnamara, Lancashire Fusiliers, was killed in action in France on July 1st. He was 30 years of age and his home was 14 Knott Street, Oldham.

He had served for eight years in India before war broke out and came over with his battalion to Gallipoli and took part in the famous landing at W Beach. He was twice wounded while on the peninsula. "
