"Private Daniel Whitehead, of the Manchester Regiment, was killed in action in the recent advance on July 1st 1916. Whitehead was 23 years of age, and a joiner-minder at the Dowry Mill, Lees, before enlisting in December 1914. He had been at the front seven weeks. His mother resides at 2 off 546 Huddersfield Road, Oldham. "
