"Official notification has been received by Mrs Platt of 6 Frederick Street, Chadderton, that her son, Rifleman Travis Platt, King's Royal Rifle Corps, was killed in action in France on July 1st. He was a single man of 25 years of age and enlisted sometime after the outbreak of war. Before his enlistment he was employed as a butcher by Mr Robert Corns, Middleton Road, Chadderton. "
