Newspaper obituary:

"Gunner Herbert Addy (18870), RFA, died on July 2nd from wounds received in France. He was a native of Oldham, and formerly lived at 42 Tate Street, Oldham. For several years he worked as a grocer for the Oldham Equitable Co-operative Society at their Waterloo Street branch, and was well known and respected by a large circle of friends. About four years ago he opened a business on his own account at Forest Moor, near Harrogate, and continued in it until twelve months ago when he gave it up to join the army. He was a single man, 23 years of age, and his parents now live at Hipperholme, Halifax. "
