More claims for exemption from service on the ground of a conscientious objection against war service were heard on Wednesday …

Frank Edward Sugden of 206 Waterloo-street, undergraduate and clerk, studying at the Manchester University and employed by the Oldham Education Committee desired conditional exemption in order to complete his studies with a view to being called to the bar. He also wrote that he had a conscientious objection against military service.

Councillor Sugden, the applicant's brother has joined HM forces.

On the educational reasons advanced, temporary exemption was granted to June 1st.
