Aged 21 years, of 98 Denton Lane, Chadderton

He said that the teaching of Christ is that you must save life, not destroy it.
He was a member of the Moravian Church
He had been a member of the No-Conscription Fellowship since the foundation of local branch 2 or 3 months ago..

Cllr. Owen asked: Did Christ not drive men out of the temple with whips and scorpions because he disapproved of their actions?
Mather replied: There are no Christians in the army.

Sent to Non-combatant service.
