Of Bridgewater Street, Oldham, an iron dresser employed by Messrs Platt Bros at Hartford Old Works, Oldham.
[At the start of the 20th century Platt Bros. were the largest textile machinery manufacturers in the world, employing more than 12,000 workers]
He was a member of the International Bible Students Association, had sworn allegiance to the King of kings and would not take up arms against any man.
He was employed as a plate moulder but other men refused to work with him because he had not attested. He had been shifted to another department but refused to work on bombs.
The tribunal exempted him from combatant service only.
